Booking choice: The canal cruise under Charles Bridge, from $25 per person. Check dates Tour details
The cruise everyone means by “the Charles Bridge cruise” is run by Prague Venice (Pražské Benátky). Its boats leave from an old harbour under the Old Town end of the bridge, at the Charles Bridge Museum, and the ticket includes the museum. The big boats belong to other companies and leave from the embankment further downstream. Both are fine; only the small boats go up the Čertovka.
Prices and hours below come from Prague Venice's own site and the GetYourGuide and Viator listings, all checked on 10 October 2026. Dollar conversions use the Czech National Bank rate of 9 October 2026 (1 USD = 21.745 CZK).
The quick answer
For the bridge, take the 45-minute Prague Venice canal cruise: 550 CZK for adults (about $25), 350 CZK for children aged 2 to 12, boats every 10 minutes, a drink and the Charles Bridge Museum included. GetYourGuide sells the same trip for $25, the same price with free cancellation. Want a guide first? The walk and cruise combo adds a live guided walk, then the same boat with recorded commentary.

Can you take a boat under Charles Bridge?
Yes. The small Prague Venice boats sail under its arches on every trip, and some big-boat cruises pass under it too.
Charles Bridge stands on 16 arches, and several are navigable. The small wooden boats leave from the Judita pier, a medieval harbour under the Old Town end of the bridge, pass beneath the arches along the Kampa side and turn into the Čertovka. The big cruise boats leave from Dvořákovo nábřeží by Čech Bridge, downstream. According to the operator Prague Boats, its lunch, dinner and Grand Cruise routes sail under both Čech Bridge and Charles Bridge on their way upriver to the lock below Vyšehrad.
For the bridge, the small boat wins. It is close to the water, slow, and goes where the big boats cannot. The big boats win for the whole river: the castle, the embankments and the lights at night.

What is the Prague Venice canal cruise like?
Forty-five minutes on a 19th-century style wooden boat, with recorded commentary in your language, a beer or soft drink and a pastry.
You buy a ticket at the museum, walk down into the old Judita harbour under the bridge and board one of the open wooden boats; Plavuně and Mokrýš are two of them. Boats leave every 10 minutes, and the operator says they sail even with one passenger. Each seat gets disposable headphones with commentary in 19 languages. The drinks are included: beer, lemonade, tea or coffee, with mulled wine in winter, plus gingerbread, or ice cream in summer.
The route runs under the arches, along Kampa and up the Čertovka, then back to the pier. Afterwards you walk up through the Charles Bridge Museum, which is included. Guests on GetYourGuide like the scale of it. Michaela, September 2026: “Charming wooden boats that travel off the beaten track!” Tina, October 2026: “A great tour. Access is easy, the boat is comfortable, and the narration interesting and informative.”
It is not a wheelchair trip: the pier is reached by stairs and the boats are low. And it is an audio tour on a boat, not a guided tour; if that bothers you, read the section on the walk and cruise below.

Is the GetYourGuide canal cruise ticket worth $25?
Yes. At the October 2026 exchange rate it costs the same as the 550 CZK box-office price, and it adds free cancellation.
The pier price is 550 CZK, which is $25.29 at the Czech National Bank rate; the GetYourGuide listing is $25.27. You pay nothing extra for booking online, you can reserve now and pay later, and you can cancel up to 24 hours before. With 4,329 reviews and a 4.5 rating it is one of the most reviewed Charles Bridge activities on the platform.
Two honest notes from guests. One, Karl in September 2026, wrote that his boat “didnt start after 40 mins because not enough gusts but worth the wait very informative”, which does not match the operator's promise to sail with one passenger; go outside the midday rush and you are unlikely to wait. Two, the listing says boats leave every 15 minutes, the operator says every 10. Plan on a short wait either way.
Children aged 2 to 12 pay 350 CZK at the pier. If you are travelling with children, check the child price in the booking box before choosing where to buy.

The small-boat cruise under Charles Bridge and up the Čertovka, with a drink, a pastry and the Charles Bridge Museum. Same price as the pier, with free cancellation.
Check dates Tour detailsWhat is the Čertovka, and why is it called Prague's Venice?
The Čertovka, or Devil's Channel, is a narrow millrace that cuts off Kampa island from the Lesser Town. Houses rise straight out of its water.
The channel was dug as a mill race, and an old mill wheel still turns on it. The houses of the Lesser Town back directly onto the water, with balconies, doors and tiny gardens over the stream, which is where the “Venice” nickname comes from. Big boats cannot enter; the small wooden ones fit with little room to spare.
The name has a folk origin: the story goes that a bad-tempered woman, a “devil” of a housewife, lived in a house on the channel. You will hear a version of it on the commentary. Walk over the little bridges on Kampa afterwards and you will see the lovers' padlocks and the mill wheel from above.

Is the guided walk and river cruise better?
It is better if you want a person to explain the bridge. The guided part is the walk; on the boat the commentary is recorded.
The Charles Bridge guided walk and river cruise by PragueWay starts at 13:30 at Mostecká 53/4, at the Lesser Town end, with a maximum of 30 people. A local guide walks you through the Lesser Town, past the Lennon Wall and Kampa and over the bridge, for a little under an hour. Then you board a Prague Venice boat for the canal cruise, with a drink and a snack, and finish at the museum. It costs $50 on Viator, rated 4.9 from 496 reviews. GetYourGuide sells a similar combination at $44.
Be clear about the boat. Martha E, on Viator in October 2026: “Once we switched from his guided walking tour to the boat, the narrator was an automated voice; that was not a personal tour.” Most guests still love it. Leisa P, August 2026: “We were so happy that we were on one of the smaller canal boats for the river portion of this tour!!”
Our view: you pay about $25 more than the cruise alone, and what you buy is an hour with a guide on the bridge. If stories matter to you, that is good value. If you mainly want the boat, book the boat.

Which cruise is best in the evening or in winter?
In the evening, a big-boat cruise from Dvořákovo nábřeží for the lit-up castle. In winter, the canal cruise still runs, with mulled wine, until 17:00.
The canal boats stop early: the last one leaves at 17:00 from October to April and at 20:00 in July and August. After that the river belongs to the big boats. The 50-minute evening sightseeing cruise from Dvořákovo nábřeží costs about $20 online and has more than 43,000 reviews with a 4.2 rating; guests mention table service and the lights. Prague Boats says all its cruises run through the winter.
In winter the canal boats are open to the weather, so dress for it. The upside is a much emptier river, mulled wine on board, and the bridge statues with frost on them. The autumn and winter post has more on the season.
Last tip: the official Prague Visitor Pass lists the Charles Bridge Museum with its Prague Venice boat ticket among its free entries. If you already have the pass, collect the boat ticket at the museum desk.
Boats every 10 to 15 minutes from under the bridge, all year. Book the canal cruise for the day you have free.
